Behind Rihanna’s May Cover for Vogue

Over the last few weeks, Rihanna has rephrased the rules of being pregnant —singlehandedly. Ever since the couple announced their pregnancy in a photoshoot on the snowy streets of Harlem early this year, every step out has been a statement of its own. But the message has been pretty much the same, Pregnant or not, Rihanna will be Rihanna.

Honestly, she has scrapped the rule book, wearing exactly what she wants; from crop tops to see-throughs and heels, ain’t nothing Rihanna cant do!

In her recent cover of Vogue, she talks to Vogue Editor Chioma about absolutely not shopping in the maternity section, “When I found out I was pregnant, I thought to myself, There’s no way I’m going to go shopping in no maternity aisle. I’m sorry—it’s too much fun to get dressed up. I’m not going to let that part disappear because my body is changing.” She says, adding “I’m hoping that we were able to redefine what’s considered ‘decent’ for pregnant women,” she tells me. “My body is doing incredible things right now, and I’m not going to be ashamed of that. This time should feel celebratory. Because why should you be hiding your pregnancy?”
