If fashion was a religion, Joram Muzira Job would be its Pope because from childhood his devotion to the industry rippled from within. By 6 years, “I knew who Naomi Campbell, Tyra Banks and other big fashion personalities were,” he says.
Born to Ugandan parents, a Munyankore mother and Musoga father, who sadly passed on when he was still young. The situation left him in the care of close relatives, which he is grateful for “Because that helped me learn many things and collect different life experiences which taught me how to become a go getter,” he says.
When I ask about his arriving to where he is, “I am not surprised that I am in this industry, because my whole life has been about the fashion industry. Even as a child, the kind of games I played with my friends involved fashion, and organizing pretend showcases and fashion shows.”
To see himself waltz down the runways for the biggest fashion houses was the original dream Joram had in mind was. May be one day, gracing the cover of coveted magazines and glitzing through the biggest fashion weeks, a muse, trend setter and star in himself. He was fully convinced, prepared and ready to take over the fashion streets. His only challenge was finding the right agency to sign him. “I was skinny, I was black, I had the style, and as far as I knew from watching international models, that is what it took,” he says. In his S.4 Joram begun to apply through all the agencies. But sadly for him, they said no, again and again so Joram followed the advice of his older sister Drucilla, and went back to secondary school. After completing his secondary education, he came back, applied to the same agencies which still rejected him.

When Joram recalls being rejected by all the fashion houses in Uganda, he laughs retelling the experience “I went to all of them, from Zipper to Arapapa, and every other little agency, they all said no to me.”
But Joram, being Joram is a very rigorous and strongly gripped person. From working backstage on shows in Kampala, he now seats at the high table of the who is who’s in casting the best African faces the world has seen so far.
Piggybacking on his sister Drucilla Muzira, who did Miss Uganda 2002 and emerged as Miss Jinja at 18 years old. Joram confesses that Drucilla was like his ticket for entering the fashion world, he says adding with laughter “I would tag along on anything and everything she was invited to.” But soon, Joram’s big break would come through Slyvia Owori, who Joram describes as his “fashion godmother”
His doors flung open when Slyvia Owori decided to take a chance on him, for the FOREVER LOVE show, where Joram also found and cast his first global star Aamito Lagum. The show which Joram produced turned out to be very successful, “Slyvia was very happy with everything I had done, and decided to recommend me to everyone,” Joram says. He continued to scout girls for the African Woman magazine and different projects. One by one, the girls wanted Joram to manage them and so he decided to give it a try after a lot of suggestions, he decided to open a Facebook page Joram Model Management, and that is how he begun his takeover.
At the 2019 Abryanz Style and Fashion Awards, Joram was honoured with a Star Maker Award for his notable work through his model agency Joram Model Management. He has trained, mentored and facilitated models from all over Africa to start successful model careers around the world. His work speaks for its self , with his agency behind some of the industries big names Aliet Sarah, Akello Patricia, Adit Priscilla, Lamich Kirabo, Ayak Veronica, Mayor Dutie, Aketch Joy Winnie, Paul Mwesiwgwa, Angair Biong, Achan Biong, Ayen Emily, Adut Mary among others.
For those not familiar with modeling, the mother agency is a parent to the model, caring for the models 24/7. “I have to know everything that is happening with the model, from what they eat to where they sleep. I have to be on my phone with each of them 24/7.” Most of these girls are young, the parents have handed their child into your hands so if they call you at any time, you have to know exactly is up”
Joram Model Management has placed more than 20 models in international spaces. Promoting their models’ careers on a global scale to ensure longevity in the business. From what he tell me, part of his dream of being at the front, back and centre in the modeling industry has been realized through his work. “I know a face when I see one” Joram still keeps up with latest models trends around the entire world, just like he did when he was 6 years old. Although now, not for himself, but for representation.
“Baby Steps” That is how Joram describes all he has so far achieved. The agency still has a great goal, and as they say, the “beautiful ones are not yet born,” and when they are, Joram and JMM will be here waiting to scout, nurture, groom, develop, mother and place them on international scenes.
